Hearing Aid Repair and Maintenance

Hearing Aid Repair

Repairs, maintenance, cleanings and warranties come standard when you purchase your hearing aids from Grusecki Audiology & Hearing Aid Services. Enjoy the convenience of fast, in-office repairs on most makes and models of hearing aids. Even if you purchased your hearing aid elsewhere, we may be able to provide repair and maintenance services.

Troubleshooting

Many basic hearing aid repairs can be done at home. The solution to your problem may be as simple as changing the batteries or double-checking the settings. If your hearing aids don’t seem to be working properly, these troubleshooting steps may fix the problem, or at the very least, help you identify the potential issue:

  • If the volume doesn’t seem loud enough, verify that you’re using the right setting, then clean earwax from the microphone and remove any debris from the receiver tube.
  • If sounds seem to be distorted, install fresh batteries and close the battery door firmly. Remember to check the expiration date of your hearing aid batteries as this can impact their effectiveness.
  • Whistling and feedback are a sign that the device isn’t fitting properly. This is usually caused by earwax build up in the ear or on the device. To correct, simply clean your hearing aids and your ears.

Warranty repairs

Every device we sell is backed for a set period of time by a manufacturer’s warranty. It’s good to know you are completely covered by the manufacturer for repairs, loss or damage.

If you do need a repair during this time, bring your devices in to our office. You’ll be happy to know that most repairs can be made in the office, while you wait. If your hearing aids must be sent back to to the manufacturer for repair, we’ll handle the return for you and update you on an expected timeline of return.

Even if you didn’t buy your hearing aids from us, we may be able to help with repairs, maintenance or warranty work. We partner with the following major brands:

  • Signia
  • Oticon
  • Phonak
  • ReSound
  • Unitron
  • Widex

Routine maintenance

As part of your fitting appointment, Grusecki Audiology & Hearing Aid Services will show you how to perform routine maintenance on your hearing aids. It’s important to clean your hearing aids every day and store them in a safe place when not in use. Because of the humidity generated by hot showers and baths, it’s not a good idea to store your hearing aids in the bathroom. Be sure to keep fresh batteries on hand at all times and store your hearing aids with the battery door open.
